Seeing how Christmas was almost a month ago!!...I thought I should throw a blog entry in here to finish off the year and greet 2010 right nice.
Christmas Eve started off wonderfully! We'd spent the night before catching up with Lisa and Devin as soon as they got to our house (the half way point between SLC and Tucson), caught a few Z's, then got up bright and early so that we could hit the road by 8am. That was our goal and we came so dang close to makin' it! Only thing that held us up was packing my itty bitty Hyundai Accent with all the luggage, Christmas presents and BABY GEAR. I've never really been a light packer when it comes to trips (my family can vouch for that) and it absolutely blows my mind how much "stuff" you have to pack to keep the mini human happy! It's even more of a miracle that all that fit in the back of the Hyundai!!
7 or so hours later we pulled into Tucson and were so excited to see everyone!! Patti and Ashley sure did a number on the house in preparation for us to arrive! They cleaned that house from top to bottom...so clean that we probably could have had our dinner right off the living room floor! Of all the time I'm sure they spent getting ready for the guests, it took us all but an hour to completely demolish that masterpiece :)
Christmas Day was awesome as well! Wyatt was napping for most of the present opening, so we set them aside and later filmed him watching daddy open his presents for him ;) That little guy was spoiled rotten!
Christmas was also the time that Wyatt officially learned how to roll from his back to his belly!! Too bad he's scared crapless to roll the opposite direction! Since Christmas, I cannot even tell you how many times I have to get up at night because he's rolled onto his belly and is too insanely stubborn to turn him self back over! Mind you, he wascursed blessed with my side of the family's giant football head (suppose I should be thankful that didn't have to come shooting out of me during delivery!) so every attempt he has made to roll the opposite direction ends in a BONK!! It's like his head out weighs the rest of his body and once it's in motion, there's no amount of gripping the carpet he can do that will slow the speed at which his head will inevitably slam into earth.
The few times that he has managed to roll from belly to back, Steve and I make sure that we cheer, clap, smile, scream "YAY" and any other form of positive reinforcement we can do so that he knows that "hey, it's OK to roll over...so I may get a little carpet burn on my forehead...they still think I'm awesome!"
The trip home from Tucson was sadly NOT so fun. It took us 3 hours just to get through the check points at the Hoover Dam. Wyatt was so done with being in the car long before we even made it to the Dam. He's such a trooper. It can't be easy to be stuck in a car for 10 hours AND be teething!
