When to take the plunge?

We scored on a new toddler bed tonight. Couldn't pass it up...but the question now is...

When do we transition Wyatt from crib to bed?

I think it will end up being far more painful for me than for Wyatt...and I should totally just go for it. But, I'm putting the question out there. What's the best method? What worked for you??

Do it when you no longer need the peace in your life that corraling him is needed?

I set up the twin bed we had for Hunter in his room along with the crib for two months. i encouraged him to take naps in it and to play on it. I then after two months had him help me take apart his crib and put it away. While we did that we talked about how big boys sleep in big boy beds. later that night it only took three times of putting him back in his bed until he stayed there and fell asleep. Good luck!

my crib is low enough that it would hold the mattress on the ground to keep him from climbing out as long as possible, till 22 months. Yes, have him help with tools/ rearrange room when changing anything. Kids can usually handle 1 major change every 2 months, so make sure he's still positioned in the same place. Sometimes it boils down to the door being left cracked or opened is a reward for staying in the bed, and sometimes just the bedroom. Boys tend to like the ground just as much and sometimes, pick your battles, that is ok.
